What is AWS Class ER309/309L MIG and TIG Filler Metal ?

AWS Class ER309/309L MIG filler welding wires and rods are used to weld austenitic stainless steel to either carbon or low-alloy steel. Their chemical makeup is normal C 0.03% max (ER309L), Cr 2224, Ni 1214, Mn 12, Si 0.75 and the rest Fe with great corrosion and heat resistance. Mechanical properties include tensile strength of 520-580 Mpa, yield strength of 205-350 Mpa and length of elongation of 30-40 percent which provide strong and durable welds. These filler metals provide constant arc behavior, flowed deposition of weld and the quality and crack-free joints during the MIG and TIG welding.
