What is AWS Class ERTI-9 MIG & TIG?

AWS Class ERTI-9 MIG and TIG welding wires are low-alloy steel electrodes designed for high-strength, crack-resistant welds. Chemically, they typically contain carbon (0.06–0.15%), manganese (1.2–1.6%), silicon (0.5%), and trace amounts of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum to enhance toughness and corrosion resistance. Mechanically, ERTI-9 welds exhibit tensile strength of 550–650 MPa, yield strength around 450 MPa, and elongation of 20–25%, ensuring excellent ductility. These properties make them ideal for welding mild and low-alloy steels, delivering smooth arc performance, deep penetration, and strong, durable joints suitable for structural and heavy-duty applications.
