What is AWS Class ER316LSi MIG and TIG Filler Metal ?
AWS Class ER316LSi MIG and TIG Filler Welding Wire and Rod are used to weld austenitic stainless steel that is in corrosive and high-temperature conditions. They are usually chemically composed of 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, 2-3% molybdenum, 0.5-1.0% silicon and very low carbon (below 0.03) in order to reduce the amount of carbide precipitation and increase the resistance to corrosion. ER316LSi has a tensile strength of 550-700Mpa, yield strength at 210-250Mpa and an elongation of 35-45 percent, which is highly tough and ductile. Silicon addition enhances the fluidity of the weld, minimizes the porosity and supports smooth and high quality welds which can be used in both MIG and TIG processes.
